BeachAbility exists so that everyone can enjoy the simple pleasure of being by the sea.

The idea for BeachAbility came from our founder, Sharon Gray, who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2012 and soon after became a wheelchair user. Determined not to lose access to the beach she loved, Sharon sparked a movement that’s still growing today.

Her legacy lives on in every beach wheelchair we provide — giving people with mobility issues the freedom to access Jersey’s beautiful coastline safely and with dignity.

We offer all-terrain beach wheelchairs at seven locations across the island. They are free to use and available year-round, thanks to our incredible volunteers and supporters.
