Our Story

Bukit Lawang Trust works alongside communities in North Sumatra, Indonesia, creating opportunities through education, skills development, wellbeing and environmental initiatives.

Founded following the devastating 2003 flash flood, more than 20 years later our work is increasingly locally led, with our Indonesian team and community helping shape and deliver programmes that respond to local needs.

Your support helps children and young people access education, creates opportunities for families and communities, and supports a future where people and the surrounding rainforest can thrive together.

Bukit Lawang Trust is a registered charity in Jersey, where the Trust was established and continues to have strong links. Our work and community programmes are delivered in Indonesia.
