Grow Jersey is a community smallholding, based in a 13 vergee field in the north of St Helier.
Grow operates three pillars - (1) Building a resilient community, tackling loneliness and isolation, physical and mental health, (2) growing food for our community, (3) farming regeneratively to support biodiversity, carbon sequestration and nutrient dense food. These pillars support our overarching aim of Education - education around access to nature, mental and physical benefits of being outside in nature, growing food and caring for nature, food security and climate resilience.
Our formal objects are - to provide opportunities for school groups, charitable organisations and members of the general public to engage in sustainable food growing and outdoor learning, in order for both the charity and the beneficiaries to cultivate a variety of fruits and vegetables to supply user beneficiaries, local charities or sell from our sites to generate funds that are reinvested into Grow Jersey's operations and initiatives.
We run 8 school sessions and three community groups a week.
We have full planning permission for our project which includes 2 polytunnels, a community building with a workshop/garage, small production kitchen, community space and fully accessible toilet, raised beds for mobility/disability access, minibus parking, sensory garden, yurt, wildlife pond, forest school, bee hives and compost bays. We are on a mission to fund them!
