About Will Jack Robinson
I am going to do something this year that I did not think I would ever do. Last year was an unusual but beautiful year, full of moments of elation as well as some significant challenges. When Dean arrived, he was born with a rare health condition—something I do not wish to discuss in detail on social media. He is okay, but we needed support.
Family First were there for us and continue to support us. All the right steps were taken, and we are now able to move forward with our lives. During that challenging time, my main role was, of course, to look after my little nest: to keep everything running and ensure that all was well. I am proud to say—and I will always be proud to say—that I did that. However, it is fair to say that the experience had repercussions for me personally. I emerged from the other side feeling somewhat broken. That was expected, but the next step was ensuring that those cracks in me could be filled with gold.
I needed a challenge—something that would scare me and force me to take care of myself again, both physically and mentally. With every fitness challenge, I think back to the boy I was at school, finishing last in cross-country races. I am not a natural athlete by any means. That may be one of the reasons I was drawn to completing a half Ironman: to raise money as a thank-you to Family First for being there for us during those difficult months, but also for myself—to fill those cracks with gold. I have already started training and feel great as a result. Back to square one.
I apologise for the length of this message, and I thank you if you are still with me. It is important for me to express my gratitude and, hopefully, help Family First continue supporting other families in similar situations. Below is a donation link. For those interested in my journey, you can follow me on Instagram at @willjackfitness.
Thank you.
Fundraising Information
This fundraising page benefits the following good cause:
Established in 2018, our charity provides a dedicated Family Support Service for families in Jersey whose child requires medical treatment in the UK.
By supporting our service, you can make a real difference for families facing one of the most difficult times in their lives.
Your donation helps us:
- Be at the end of the phone when families need advice, guidance, or simply someone to listen.
- Source off-island accommodation so parents can stay close to their child during treatment.
- Secure financial support by working with local and UK charities to ease the burden of unexpected costs
Together, we can ensure that no family faces this journey alone. Every donation, big or small, helps us be there when families need us most.
Thank you for your support.
