About Pete

Profile picture

I'm a 52 year old CFO who enjoys endurance challenges outside of work and am passionate about fundraising in my home Island of Jersey.

I've created an event called "Island Man x 7" which will see me attempt to complete 7 Iron Mans over 7 consecutive days between 3rd October and 9th October this year. Whilst I have a recent part time background in endurance activities, this will be my first entry into this type of format. I have never competed in a Triathlon, let alone an Iron Man.

I have nominated four local charities, which are all connected to young people's health (both physically and mentally) and their wellbeing.

The charities are CLIC Sargent, Kezia's Fund, Lily's Fund and The LouLou Race Foundation.

Any funds raised from this event will be split evenly between the four.

About The Charities

This fundraising page benefits the following charities:

Kezia's Fund - Jersey Community Foundation

Kezia's Fund supports mental health amongst children and young people aged 5 to 25 and their families in Jersey. The fund aims to increase and/or improve mental health and wellbeing provision for children and young people in Jersey, empower young people to develop their own initiatives, and take an active role in the designing and delivery of activities in their community.

CLIC Sargent (Jersey)

CLIC Sargent (Jersey) aims to ensure that every Jersey family who has a child or young person with cancer receives the support they need.  We retain all the money we raise in the Island so that it can be spent solely on Jersey children and their families.
CLIC Sargent (Jersey) is an independent, local charity formed to ensure that every child and young person with cancer and their family receive the support they need.  We offer financial and emotional support to anyone living on the Island who is diagnosed before their 21st birthday.  We work alongside the multi-disciplinary team at the hospital and with other agencies to achieve this.  We respond to the needs of the sick child and their family at a difficult and stressful time.

Lily's Fund

Lily is a kind, thoughtful, active and positive 23-year-old medical student at Cardiff University. On January 14, 2025, she was rushed to the hospital with flu-like symptoms, only to rapidly worsen into septic shock. She was diagnosed with meningococcal septicaemia, a severe and aggressive infection. Despite suffering two cardiac arrests, Lily fought for her life, thanks to the incredible care of the team at University Hospital Wales. After two weeks in a coma, she began to show signs of recovery, but an MRI revealed multiple brain, spleen and liver infarcts, leaving the long-term effects uncertain.
The infection caused severe blood flow issues, and as a result, Lily has undergone surgery to shorten all four limbs (with the amazing support of the Plastics Team at Morriston Hospital, Swansea), leaving her a quadruple amputee (above her knees and through her elbows). While this is a devastating situation, her strength and determination remain unshaken. We are committed to ensuring that Lily has the best chance for recovery and the opportunity to pursue her dreams.
Before her illness, Lily was an avid swimmer, runner, and surfer, and these sports are essential to her well-being and happiness. The advanced prosthetics available through private companies will give her the mobility and independence to return to these activities. This will not only aid her physical recovery but also allow her to reconnect with the passions that have always brought her joy.
Funds raised here will go directly towards prosthetics, adaptations to living environment, as well as the physiotherapy and rehabilitation necessary for Lily’s recovery.
Any funds not directly used for Lily’s care will be donated to Limb Power, a charity that supports amputees and individuals with limb impairments through physical activity, sport, and the arts to enhance their quality of life and aid in lifelong rehabilitation.

Your support will make a world of difference in helping Lily rebuild her life, regain her independence, and pursue her dreams. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.

LouLou Race Foundation

The LouLou Race Foundation aims to support underfunded young people in their sports aspirations and nurture talent. The Foundation supports individuals in solo and team sports by financing young athletes' all the necessary costs and support, whether providing equipment, arranging travel for competitions, or providing access to top-level mentors and professional coaches.

We hope all young athletes who join the LouLou Race Foundation programme feel part of a wider supportive community cheering on one another.
