About Jersey International Air Display
Background
The Jersey International Air Display is recognised as one of the best air displays in Europe - winning the Paul Bowen Trophy at the European Air Show Convention in Brussels in 2013, and last year was listed in the Top 20 displays to see in the UK and Europe. It has become one of the Island's premier tourism events and a key highlight of the Island's calendar. It is watched in person and online by over 50,000 people.
As the largest free event in the Island, the Air Display is funded by private sponsorship and a government grant. This means that all families irrespective of their income can enjoy the flying display over St Aubin's Bay and activities on the Lower Park together. Although the event was a little diminished in past years due to the restrictions that followed the COVID outbreak and required in the post pandemic recovery phase, we are making steady progress in returning the display to its 2013 standard with enhanced static displays, and potentially STEM areas that complement the display itself.
Funding
However, we need your help. We very much welcome the support of the Government of Jersey and of Ports of Jersey, and the 2025 grant was substantially increased compared to previous years. However costs have not gone down and in fact have increased substantially.
We have previously been overwhelmed by the support of the public and continue to move the funding of the Display onto a more sustainable and consistent basis. As in previous years we will be seeking additional sponsorship for 2026, but want to make sure the event can have the best future possible. If you enjoy the Display and would like to see it continue, we would very much welcome your support.
Rider
In the event that the Display does not take place all funds raised will be put towards the 2027 Display. In the event the Display is permanently cancelled, donations will be split evenly between Jersey's Helping Wings Charity and British Military Service Charities
Fundraising Information
This fundraising page benefits the following good cause:
For 73 years one of the most anticipated events in Jersey's summer programme of activities has been the annual air display, which features a range of historic, modern, civil and military aircraft from all over the world. Many which have not appeared in UK mainland displays.
The annual air display is organised by the Jersey International Air Display a.r.l. a not-for-profit company, which strives to support the Island's tourism industry and to help raise monies for Jersey's Helping Wings Charity and British Service Charities.
The flying and static displays on the Lower Park in St Helier are free to the public and the event is financed through a grant from Jersey's Department for Sustainable Development - the government department responsible for tourism in Jersey - and through sponsorship monies from Jersey companies and donations from members of the public. Depending on the year, between 55% and 75% of the money raised is spent in Jersey.
Costs for staging an event of this size and quality are increasing every year - ie. the cost of aircraft, fuel, insurance, accommodation for aircrew/ground support teams and the equipment and services needed to put on the display.
Sadly, unless the display receives more public support either from government, companies or individuals it will inevitably decline and wither. After all there is really no such thing as a free air display as someone has to pay the costs of the event.
We hope that you will support us so that your children will be able to enjoy and learn from the air display as you have done over the decades. Donations, no matter how large or small are always greatly received.
