About Phoebe Gould
This year, I’m running the London Marathon in support of Jersey Hospice Care, a charity that means a great deal to me and my family. I’ve wanted to run a marathon for a long time, and being able to do it for such an important cause makes it incredibly special.
For most of our lives, we don’t experience Jersey Hospice Care, but knowing it is there for everyone on the island during the toughest moments of their lives is truly incredible. Our family have benefitted from their compassion and care, most recently, my Grandpa, Peter, passed away last year at Jersey Hospice, and we saw again just how vital this charity is. The compassion, dignity, and support they provide to patients and families makes such a difference at an incredibly difficult time.
Jersey Hospice Care touches so many lives across the island and relies heavily on fundraising to continue providing this vital care every day. To give an idea of the difference donations can make:
• £110 could pay for a day’s worth of medical supplies to help keep patients as comfortable as possible in their final days
• £200 could go towards providing a course of bereavement support for families who have lost a loved one
• £20 could help provide a meal for a patient in the In Patient Unit
I would love to raise as much money as possible to help support their daily costs and ongoing work.
I’m so excited to train for and run the marathon and feel incredibly lucky to be doing this whilst raising money for such an important charity! Thank you so much for any support or donation you’re able to give!
Fundraising Information
This fundraising page benefits the following good cause:
Jersey Hospice Care is the island’s only hospice – providing specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting conditions. Services include the Specialist Palliative Care Team – who support people at home, in hospital, and in care homes, an In Patient Unit providing a home away from home, educational programmes, complementary therapy, emotional, spiritual and faith support, and community bereavement services. Jersey Hospice Care is an independent charity, providing all its services without a charge to patients. It costs £18,000 a day to run – funded mainly by the generosity of islanders. This comes in the form of donations, fundraising, and sales in our charity shops, as well as through the outstanding work of the dedicated volunteers who give their time and skills to keep Hospice running.
